ATA Operational and Maintenance Facility project wins prestigious Engineering Award of Excellence
The Area Transportation Authority (ATA) Operational and Maintenance Facility project in DuBois, PA was the recent recipient of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC) Diamond Award for Engineering Excellence.
The award was presented to Michael Baker International for their construction management services. The project, funded by federal, state and local transportation funds is a 48,000 square foot facility that includes an administrative area, maintenance area, bus wash, bus storage area, on-site fueling station and a circulation area.
For almost 50 years, ATA has provided both fixed route and shared ride services in six counties of north central PA (Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter). They were the first public transportation provider in the state, and serve a population of over 250,000 in an area over 5,600 square miles – larger than the state of Connecticut.
A Diamond Award for Engineering Excellence is a tribute to not only the winning project and its engineering firm, but also for the client, owners, subconsultants, contractors, and everyone in making this project a reality. The winners truly embody the spirit of unity. The project has been submitted for a national award as well.
